Creating your own Witch’s Broom for your very own ceremonies and traditions is an empowering experience!
A Besom Is a perfect addition to your growing witch’s cupboard of goodies( which is bursting at the seams….I know) and has long been associated with cleansing and protection, making it a staple in any of your witch’s practices. The best part is that You likely have everything you need around the house or can easily gather a few natural items on your next walk.! BOOM another excuse to get out into nature (like you needed one)
They can be as fancy or as simple as you like, but your Intention behind it is the important thing, Like any Magical practices, what you put out you get back (maybe even ten times) so creating your Besom with good intentions of cleansing, clearing, protection, and having a beautiful item in your home that makes you feel magical and empowered is always encouraged!
It also instills a sense on empowerment and connection to those women who came before you, they held the same item in their hands and weren’t always allowed to be so apparent about it. These women were persecuted, and it is always my intention to work with a sacredness knowing they paved the road I walk today. Bad Ass women whom I hold close to my heart!
I went harvesting grass with some of these bad ass witchy women for our Besoms (and for our workshop) my friends back yard! She lives on an acreage and has plenty, no worries about taking too much! We also collected berries, willow, and any other natural items we thought would work well with our creations:) SO PRETTY! This was my first year making my own Besom and im hooked!
Whether you plan to use your Besom for ritual work or as a decorative piece, the process of crafting a besom is an opportunity to infuse your own energy into a magical tool, using the simplicity of everyday materials. Magica doesn’t have to be complicated, in fact I LOVE the simplicity in everyday magical practices:) I also encourage you to make a new one every year, to continue cleansing from a place of new and clear energy! Remember your Besom has been collecting all that sticky energy all year long! So move it on out and give it back to Mother Earth for her to transform it into something new:)
